Just because winter temperatures in Memphis, TN, don’t tend to go sub-zero as they do in other places across the country (thank goodness!) doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still prep your car for the colder months. Here are a few easy ways to get your vehicle ready for winter.
Double-check your tires
Proper tire care is important all-year-round, but it’s more important than ever during winter. Even If all you have to contend with is rain-slick roads or a bit of slush, bald tires or insufficient tread depth can be dangerous. To check, insert a penny between two grooves at multiple points on your tires. If you can still see the top of Lincoln’s head, it’s time to get a new.
Get new windshield wipers
It doesn’t matter if it’s rain or snow falling from the clouds this winter; you need to have a clear view of the road at all times. If you’ve noticed your windshield wipers leaving streaks, jumping across the glass, or struggling to wipe dirt or bird leavings away, it’s time for a new set. It’s a simple fix that can save you a lot of grief down the road.
Grab some all-weather floor mats
Is there anything worse than jumping into your car after a chilly walk from the store only to realize you’ve smeared your carpet with disgusting brown slush? With all-weather floor mats, all you need to do is wait for a warmer day, pull them out, hose them off, and pop them right back in.
