Imagine buying a new vehicle that already had millions of miles on it. Sounds crazy, right? That’s what you’ll get if you pick up the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan.
The truth is that you’ll be buying a whole lot of confidence, not miles. Chrysler put the Pacifica through some of the most rigorous testing that the industry has ever seen.
That testing included 3.4 million miles of road testing, making it “one of the highest pre-production mileage totals of any Chrysler brand vehicle ever,” according to The Detroit News.
The all-new Pacifica also underwent extreme weather testing. Engineers drove the minivan around in the 120-degree Arizona heat as well as subzero temperatures in Alaska.
The Chrysler Pacifica is the automaker’s premier minivan, the Town & Country name having been retired. Along with the name change, Chrysler also took the opportunity to build an entirely new minivan from the ground up. This is why the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica testing was so rigorous.
As Jessica LaFond, chief engineer for the Pacifica, put it, “For us, the reason for so much testing is when you bringing a new architecture into the market, you’re starting from zero.”
